This form is used to collect nominations to the Board and Board Development Committee (BDC). The BDC will review all nominations and vet each potential candidate based on factors like experience both in Girl Scouts and outside of Girl Scouts, skills, geographic representation, and interest in Board membership, among other things. Nomination using this form does not guarantee inclusion on the slate of candidates presented at the Annual Meeting. Following this submission, candidates may be contacted for further interview and application processes.

The BDC operates according to the GSK Bylaws and convene throughout the year, but particularly in the fall and winter to prep for the GSK Annual Meeting that takes place in April of each year. The BDC considers nominations, applications, and candidates for Board Members (including Girl representatives), BDC Members, and National Delegates. This process usually ramps up in January before the April Annual Meeting. We look at representation (geographic, experience, and connection to Girl Scouts) seriously and this looks a lot like interviews, surveys, and asking for nominations (like this one!). Based on our information gathering, discussion with candidates, and the Board Chair and CEO, we draft a slate of candidates to fill open roles. Some years there are more openings than others.
Because making a decision to join a Board like GSK's is a big, important decision, we try to cultivate relationships with potential leaders EARLY. If you have a suggestion for a potential candidate, or if you'd like to consider Board membership in the future, this is a great opportunity to submit a name. It might not be an immediate fit -- as in, for the upcoming or currently open positions -- but it could be for the future.
